Mongolia is the largest fully landlocked country typically classified as being a part of East Asia, though it is sometimes considered as being a part of Central Asia instead. It is bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south. Mongolia's political system is parliamentary democracy. Its capital and largest city is Ulaanbaatar.

What makes Mongolia special is that it's not your traditional tourist destination. Tourist sites outside of the capital have not been developed in the way of many other countries. However, this makes finding these hidden gems all the more rewarding. There are only one or two classic-tourist sites to head off to.
