
Gyergyószentmiklós - Gheorgheni - Niklasmarkt, Romania. The town used to belong to Hungary before WWI.
In the 19th century Gheorgheni became one of the most important commercial centers of the region. The main square is in the heart of the rown, where the market used to be. A statue of Szent Miklós (Saint Nicholas), recently made by Emil Burján, is on display in the park. There are several Baroque houses in the town, e.g.: the old, Catholic parsonage, the Armenian parsonage, the house of the Lázár family, the Romfeld House.
